Description
This NIH opportunity, administered by the Office of Research Infrastructure Programs (ORIP), supports resource-related research projects (R24) for the development, characterization, or improvement of animal models and related biological materials. The focus is on resources that are broadly applicable to the research interests of at least two or more NIH Institutes or Centers, particularly those addressing diseases or processes affecting multiple organ systems.
The program aims to enhance the availability, utility, and impact of animal models and related resources for the NIH-wide biomedical research community. Projects can include the creation of new animal models, improvement of existing models, generation of reagents, or development of informatics tools that advance the translational value of animal research.
Projects that focus narrowly on a specific disease or align primarily with a single NIH Institute or Center will not be considered.
