There is broad recognition of the need to address the development and spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). A global, systematic analysis estimates that AMR infections lead to 1.27-4.95 million deaths per year, and resistant bacterial infections are now a leading cause of neonatal mortality worldwide.
