US Navy submariners and divers face numerous health risks, including oxygen toxicity, inert gas uptake, neurological syndromes, noise exposure, thermal changes, and decompression sickness - among others. To protect personnel, the 2002 Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society report, commissioned by the Office of Naval Research (ONR), established priorities for Naval undersea medicine. This workshop is intended for Navy operators, submariners, and other potential end users of undersea medicine technologies as well as technical experts in undersea medicine and the medicine of extreme environments.
