We have developed novel synchrotron based variable kinetic energy x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to address the development and optimization of materials for electronics, photonics, energy conversion, sustainable energy, catalysis, and sensing applications. Materials that can be investigated include monolayers to bulk materials of all classes. Depth selectivity in 0.2 nm steps is attained by utilizing different photon energies over a wide range.
