The grant focuses on the development, optimization, and verification of new molecular diagnostic techniques for identifying biothreat pathogens. This work involves several areas including next-generation sequencing assays, antimicrobial susceptibility tests, CRISPR-Cas12a and isothermal amplification methods, sample preparation technologies, PCR assays, and host biomarker discovery. The aim is to enhance preparedness for biological events and quickly adapt to emerging threats.
