Description
Brown University’s Robert J. and Nancy D. Carney Institute for Brain Science runs the Zimmerman Innovation Awards to launch projects with the potential to advance science and benefit society in enduring ways. The program strongly favors work that is too risky or early-stage for NIH or similar funding and aims to catalyze projects that continue at Brown after the award ends.
All areas of brain science research are considered. A separate funding pool supports projects addressing Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD). The institute also encourages proposals that draw on collective expertise to develop methods, technologies, datasets or computational approaches, particularly when they include plans for data sharing and adoption by the Brown research community.
