- Women researchers who have earned a Ph.D. in chemistry
- biochemistry
- physiology
- or related field and are early in their research career with 10 or fewer years since earning a Ph.D. Applicants must be teaching or research staff members originating independent research at an American Ph.D.-granting institution. They must also be American-born
- naturalized citizens or permanent residents with a full-time career-track appointment.
