Description

The Research Scholar Grants (RSG) program by the American Cancer Society provides funding to independent, self-directed researchers pursuing cancer research questions across the entire cancer research continuum. Proposals must align with the American Cancer Society’s priority research areas. The grant supports costs such as salaries, consumable supplies, and other research-related expenses.

Applicants must be affiliated with institutions that provide customary space and resources for independent investigators. The program encourages investigator-initiated research projects, allowing flexibility in research topics within the scope of cancer research priorities.

Due Dates

• June 1, 2025
• December 1, 2025

Note: If a deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, applications are accepted the next business day.

Funding Amount

• Up to $215,000 per year in direct costs
• Plus 10% allowable indirect costs
• Project period can be up to four years

Eligibility

Applicants are eligible if they:

• Work at a US academic institution or eligible non-profit organization
• Were first appointed as independent, full-time faculty less than 10 years ago (eligibility extensions may be requested for personal or professional leave by contacting the funder at least 6 weeks before the deadline)
• Are the Principal Investigator on no more than one R01 or R01-equivalent grant at the time of application
