DescriptionThe Weatherford Awards honor works published in the prior year that illuminate the challenges, personalities, and unique qualities of the Appalachian South. Awards are given in three categories: nonfiction, fiction, and poetry. Winners receive $500 each. Nominations must be submitted by November 1 and books considered must be first published in the award year.

Eligible Applicants- Works must focus on Appalachian subject matter or be set in Appalachia. Books must have been first published during the year for which the award is made.
