DescriptionThe Gates-Carawan Artist Award recognizes individuals for artistic potential or contributions to Appalachia in literary, visual, oral, musical, or other arts. The winner receives a physical award by a regional artist, and either a $500 stipend or mentoring in the relevant field. Nominations are due by December 1, and eligible artists must be working in the region or have ties to Appalachia. The nomination process involves submitting a completed Nomination Form by the deadline.
