The Delta Workforce Grant Program (DWP) is a competitive initiative aimed at revitalizing communities within the lower Mississippi River Delta and Alabama Black Belt regions that have been affected by job losses, industrial downsizing, and business closures. The program invests in evidence-based workforce development projects that expand job training and reemployment opportunities, align workforce and economic development strategies, create sustainable talent pipelines, and foster sector-based partnerships. Supported activities include skills-based training, work-based learning, and supportive services designed to improve access to quality jobs and promote career advancement. DWP projects are expected to engage a broad network of partners—including businesses, educational institutions, workforce boards, and community organizations—to strengthen local workforce ecosystems and drive regional economic growth.
