This funding opportunity provides support for federally recognized Tribes and intertribal consortia to implement approved Nonpoint Source (NPS) management programs as authorized by Section 319 of the Clean Water Act. The goal is to address nonpoint source pollution affecting Tribal waters through implementation of best management practices (BMPs) and activities identified in Tribal NPS Management Program Plans. Projects must target sources of NPS pollution identified in a Tribe’s Assessment Report and be consistent with an EPA-approved NPS management program.
Eligible activities include on-the-ground BMP implementation (e.g., streambank stabilization, riparian planting, septic system rehabilitation), as well as limited support for planning, monitoring, education, and outreach. The program prioritizes watershed-based approaches and encourages integration of climate and environmental resilience into project design.
