Funding is intended to support projects that encourage local participation in marine mammal science and management, promote sustainable subsistence use, and advance the conservation or recovery of marine mammal populations under NMFS’ jurisdiction. Eligible activities include species management, harvest monitoring and sampling, scientific research, and public education/outreach. Proposals must address program priorities and focus on marine mammals managed by NMFS (not those under U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service).
