This grant provides seed funding of $25,000 to early-career researchers in medical physics, supporting innovative, investigator-initiated projects that aim to generate preliminary results for future large-scale funding (e.g., NIH). Funded by the AAPM Science Council through the AAPM Education & Research Fund, the program is designed to help launch new research directions and foster the next generation of leaders in the field. Awardees are expected to present their results at AAPM meetings and submit a final report at the end of the 12-month project period. The grant covers research-related expenses, including travel and partial salary support for students, trainees, or lab technicians, but does not support the applicant's own salary or institutional indirect costs.
