Summary: Supports WIC State agencies in modernizing program integrity, connecting WIC to farmers markets, and upgrading technology systems.
This funding opportunity from the USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) provides competitive grants to WIC State agencies for infrastructure projects that advance one or more of three objectives: (1) promoting program integrity to minimize waste, fraud, and abuse; (2) enabling WIC Cash Value Benefit redemption at farmers markets; and (3) developing and implementing modernized technology for management information systems (MIS) and electronic benefits transfer (EBT). The program aims to strengthen the effectiveness, efficiency, and reach of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) by supporting technology upgrades, policy/process improvements, and innovative approaches to participant and vendor management.
Consortium applications are limited to objective 3 (technology modernization). Each WIC State agency can submit one individual application and also participate in one consortium application.
