This two-year award from the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) supports targeted, patient-oriented research in gastroenterology or hepatology that aims to reduce health and healthcare disparities and promote health equity. The grant honors Dr. Leonidas H. Berry and seeks actionable science that can directly improve care and outcomes for underrepresented racial/ethnic minorities, women, LGBTQ+ populations, and/or individuals living with disabilities (not derivative of gastrointestinal disease) within the context of digestive and liver diseases. Funded research may be clinical, translational, social science, or health services research focused on the gastrointestinal tract, liver, biliary system, pancreas, or neuroenteric science. The emphasis is on studies that can accelerate clinical knowledge and reduce disparities in these patient populations.
