This fellowship opportunity supports postdoctoral researchers working at the intersection of atomic, molecular, and optical physics, condensed matter physics, and quantum information science. The goal is to develop new techniques for controlling quantum systems and apply these advances to quantum simulations, quantum information processing, and precision time and frequency standards.
The research focuses on engineering fully controllable quantum systems that can mimic real materials with correlated quantum matter, as well as creating novel measurement techniques capable of probing atomic quantum systems at a fundamental level. Key research areas include ultracold gases, dipolar matter, trapped ions, laser spectroscopy, optical lattices, entanglement, quantum dynamics, quantum magnetism, and topological states of matter.
The fellowship is hosted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) at the Physical Measurement Laboratory, Quantum Physics Division in Boulder, Colorado.
