Semiconductor chips are essential components in virtually all electronic devices, from consumer electronics to critical national security systems. The Department of Defense (DoD) relies heavily on semiconductors for mission-critical systems including radars, sensors, and high-power-density electronics. However, the United States has become increasingly dependent on foreign nations for both commercial and defense semiconductor needs.
