Description
This opportunity supports creative early-stage investigators (ESIs) proposing bold, innovative research on HIV/AIDS comorbidities, coinfections, and complications (CCCs). The goal is to catalyze new scientific directions that are distinct from the applicant’s current or previous research, with the potential to open new areas of HIV/AIDS research. Projects must align with the scientific priorities of the NIH Office of AIDS Research (OAR), as outlined in NOT-OD-20-018.
Research may address mechanistic studies, novel preventive or therapeutic targets, interventions, or unique biological pathways underlying HIV-associated CCCs. The program is not intended to expand ongoing research but to support new, high-impact, and potentially high-risk ideas.
Participating NIH Institutes include NIDDK, NHLBI, NICHD, and NCI, each with specific interests in HIV-related comorbidities relevant to their missions.
