Description
This opportunity, offered by the Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation (OPRE) within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), funds dissertation research by advanced graduate students working in partnership with Head Start programs and faculty mentors. The program aims to build research capacity in early childhood education, support applied research experiences, and foster strong mentoring relationships. Projects must address questions relevant to early childhood programs serving low-income children and families and should directly inform local, state, or federal policy and practice.
Research must be conducted in close collaboration with Head Start (and, if applicable, Early Head Start or other early care and education) program partners, with evidence of partnership required throughout the research plan—from question development to dissemination. The program encourages applications from tribally controlled land grant colleges and universities, HBCUs, Hispanic-serving institutions, and faith-based institutions of higher education.
