This fellowship opportunity supports research on FeRh, a unique material exhibiting a metamagnetic transition near ambient temperature (360 K) that allows switching between magnetic states via external perturbations such as strain. The project aims to deepen the fundamental understanding of the strain-imposed metamagnetic phase transition and nanoscale effects, including the role of structural confinement and ion implantation. The ultimate goal is to develop an electrostatically controlled magnetic material with switching efficiencies surpassing current electronic technologies.
