Summary: Supports the maintenance, expansion, and distribution of high-quality human genetic cell lines and DNA samples for biomedical research.
Key Information: Single-source opportunity for Coriell Institute for Medical Research; only renewals/resubmissions from the current awardee are eligible.
This opportunity supports the continued operation of the NIGMS Human Genetic Cell Repository (HGCR), a critical national resource for the biomedical research community. The repository maintains, acquires, characterizes, and distributes high-quality human cell lines and DNA samples, including those from individuals with genetic disorders, healthy controls, and diverse populations. The awardee is responsible for ensuring the repository’s scientific, operational, and ethical standards, as well as for engaging with the global biobanking community and providing leadership on best practices.
The repository currently houses over 11,900 cell lines, 5,900 DNA samples, and 85+ iPSC lines, representing a wide range of disease states and populations. The resource is intended to facilitate research by providing uncontaminated, well-documented, and well-characterized materials with appropriate donor consent.
Note: This is a single-source, non-competitive renewal opportunity intended solely for the Coriell Institute for Medical Research.
