Description
The International Research Scientist Development Award (IRSDA, K01) provides advanced postdoctoral U.S. research scientists and recently-appointed U.S. junior faculty with 3–5 years of protected time and funding for intensive, mentored research career development in a low- or middle-income country (LMIC). The program aims to prepare awardees for independent, globally-focused research careers in health by supporting mentored research and career development activities that address the health priorities of the LMIC. The award is open to applicants from any health-related discipline and requires dual mentorship from both U.S. and LMIC-based investigators.
This opportunity is specifically for research that does not involve leading an independent clinical trial, though gaining experience in a clinical trial led by a mentor is permitted.
