The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) Scalable Solutions Office (SSO) seeks innovative solution summaries and proposals that address the challenges of scaling healthcare solutions to improve access, affordability, and equity across diverse geographic and demographic contexts in the United States. The goal is to overcome barriers such as geographic distribution, manufacturing bottlenecks, and data/information challenges to enhance healthcare delivery, especially in underserved and remote areas.
Key focus areas include:
Scalable Technologies and Interventions: Developing adaptable, affordable healthcare solutions deployable at scale, including telemedicine, point-of-care diagnostics, modular infrastructure, and pediatric-specific interventions. Emphasis is on reducing health disparities and enabling provider/institutional capability scaling.
Collaborative Distribution Networks: Creating methods to standardize and automate complex healthcare procedures, enhance delivery in rural or low-resource settings, enable rapid deployment of critical resources during crises, and scale education and training for healthcare providers and patients.
Biomanufacturing Innovations: Innovating manufacturing technologies to reduce costs, shorten production timelines, improve domestic competitiveness, and reduce supply chain risks for biologics, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and protective equipment. This includes developing scalable biological production, reducing cold chain reliance, and strengthening supply chains.
ARPA-H encourages proposals that are disease-agnostic but also welcomes those addressing specific diseases such as cancer, diabetes, neurological disorders, pediatric and maternal/fetal health, infectious diseases, and cardiovascular disease.
Proposals must be revolutionary and transformative, not incremental or evolutionary. Projects at the clinical trial stage or focused on policy changes, traditional education/training, center formation, or physical infrastructure construction are outside the scope.
