    Description

This funding opportunity, issued by the U.S. Department of Energy's Golden Field Office on behalf of the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies Office (AMMTO), aims to accelerate the development and deployment of smart manufacturing technologies that will transform U.S. manufacturing in support of a clean, decarbonized economy.

Smart manufacturing encompasses a suite of platform technologies that enable the digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises across the entire production lifecycle, including design, process, production, supply network, and enterprise levels. These platform technologies are applicable across multiple products and sectors.

The FOA targets four key topic areas:

    1. Smart Manufacturing for a Circular Economy
Innovations that enable circular materials flows, reuse, remanufacturing, and recycling to improve sustainability and resource efficiency.

    2. Smart Manufacturing of Tooling and Equipment for Sustainable Transportation
Development of advanced manufacturing processes and tooling to support sustainable transportation technologies.

    3. Smart Manufacturing for High Performance Materials
Technologies to produce advanced materials with improved performance for energy applications.

    4. Smart Technologies for Sustainable and Competitive U.S. Mining
Innovations to enhance productivity, safety, and sustainability in the mining sector.

This FOA supports projects that can significantly improve productivity, efficiency, safety, security, and sustainability of U.S. manufacturing and energy systems by leveraging digital and smart manufacturing technologies.
