Description
This opportunity, offered by the Administration for Community Living (ACL), provides funding to eligible state agencies to establish or re-establish coordinated Lifespan Respite Care systems. The program aims to deliver respite care and related services to family caregivers of children and adults across all age groups, disabilities, and chronic conditions. The grant is intended for:
- New States: States that have not previously received a Lifespan Respite Care Program grant.
- Returning States: States that previously received a grant but whose programs have lapsed or gone dormant since federal funding ended, and now seek to re-establish their core respite infrastructure.
Funded projects must address the respite needs of all populations from the outset, regardless of the age, disability, or chronic condition of the care recipient. Activities may include providing new and emergency respite services, recruiting and training respite workers and volunteers, assisting caregivers in accessing services, targeting underserved populations, and expanding statewide respite infrastructure.
