Description

This funding opportunity supports projects that identify and address service gaps for refugee families who are eligible for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or similar assistance. The goal is to develop and provide in-person and/or remote services and resources that enhance or complement existing programming, specifically targeting unmet needs of refugee families—especially those in geographically remote areas, those with limited access to in-person services, or those not served by other Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR)-funded programs.

Projects must demonstrate that they fill a gap in current services and do not duplicate existing efforts. Coordination with the state agency responsible for TANF and the State Refugee Coordinator (SRC) is required, as is partnership development with other mainstream benefit and service providers.

Examples of eligible activities include:

• Enhanced case management
• Referrals to refugee-specific or mainstream English language and social services
• Use of community liaisons and navigators to help families access benefits
• Employment services
• Digital and financial literacy education
• Enhanced cultural and community orientation
• Transportation and childcare access
• Development of information in languages spoken by resettled refugee communities
