Description
This grant opportunity, administered by the Administration for Community Living (ACL), funds projects under the Projects of National Significance (PNS) within the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act. The focus is on empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD), their families, and their communities. Funded projects are expected to create opportunities for people with developmental disabilities to fully participate in all aspects of community life, and to support the development of policies that promote self-determination, independence, productivity, and inclusion.
Projects must address one or more of the following areas:
- Policy change to improve experiences for people with ID/DD and their families
- Leadership development for people with ID/DD and their families
- Increasing knowledge of supports needed to achieve desired life outcomes
- Creation and dissemination of data resources relevant to the ID/DD community
Performance will be measured by outcomes such as the number of policies changed, leadership roles gained, knowledge increases, and data resources accessed.
