Description
This opportunity supports the creation of a new Center for Independent Living (CIL) in American Samoa. The funded center will provide, expand, and improve independent living services for people with significant disabilities, in alignment with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (as amended). The program aims to increase community-based options and support the independence, self-advocacy, and community integration of individuals with disabilities.
The center must deliver a set of core services, including information and referral, independent living skills training, peer counseling, individual and systems advocacy, and transition services (e.g., from institutions to community, for youth to postsecondary life, and for those at risk of institutionalization).
