    Description

    This FDA cooperative agreement aims to strengthen the national animal food safety system by supporting a national organization that represents state animal food regulatory programs. The program focuses on fostering interagency collaboration, improving regulatory and surveillance programs for manufactured animal foods, conducting research, and promoting the Animal Food Regulatory Program Standards (AFRPS).

    Key objectives include:

    • Supporting federal and state agencies in building an integrated animal food safety system.
    • Establishing systems for sharing best practices, guidance, sampling plans, and other tools to encourage mutual reliance between federal and state programs.
    • Developing and delivering animal food safety training programs, including support for the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) provisions.
