Description
This opportunity supports the establishment or renewal of Quantum Leap Challenge Institutes—large, multidisciplinary centers focused on advancing the frontiers of quantum information science and technology (QIST). Institutes are expected to address major challenges in areas such as quantum computation, quantum communication, quantum simulation, and quantum sensing. Each institute will coordinate research, education, workforce development, and community engagement activities, fostering partnerships with industry, national labs, and international collaborators. The program aims to catalyze breakthroughs in QIST and nurture a robust, diverse quantum workforce.
Institutes must demonstrate a unifying research theme, clear milestones, and a strategic plan for research, education, and coordination. Activities should include curriculum development, training, outreach, and infrastructure enhancement, all integrated to maximize impact and foster innovation.
