Description
This opportunity from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) aims to catalyze meaningful improvements in the safety, security, and privacy of mature open-source ecosystems (OSEs), including but not limited to software. The program supports efforts that address both technical (e.g., code vulnerabilities, side-channels) and socio-technical (e.g., supply chain, insider threats) vulnerabilities that the ecosystem currently lacks resources to resolve. Funds are intended to enhance the safety, security, and privacy of open-source products and their supply chains, and to strengthen the ecosystem’s ability to manage and recover from current and future risks.
The program is open to OSEs regardless of whether they were previously funded by NSF’s Pathways to Enable Open-Source Ecosystems (POSE) program. It places particular emphasis on projects where improvements will have demonstrable societal and/or economic impact.
