Description
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Summer Stipends program provides funding to individual researchers to stimulate new research and publication in the humanities. The award supports two consecutive months of continuous, full-time work on a humanities project. Funding may be used for the recipient’s compensation, travel, and other costs directly related to the proposed scholarly research.
The program encourages projects at any stage of development but is especially effective for early-stage research and late-stage writing. It supports a broad range of individuals, including independent scholars, community college faculty, and non-teaching university staff.
This program is part of NEH’s broader initiative on Humanities Perspectives on Artificial Intelligence, encouraging research on the ethical, legal, and societal implications of AI.
Important: The Summer Stipends program will not be reoffered after this cycle. NEH has updated payment procedures to pay awards only to personal bank accounts starting August 2024.
