Funding Amounts: Up to $100,000 in direct costs per year for up to 2 years (max $200,000 direct costs total)

Key Information: Applicants must not have held a major NIH award in AD/ADRD; at least half of awards are expected to go to early stage investigators.
Description
This NIH Small Research Grant (R03) program is designed to support meritorious projects that provide new scientific insights to improve the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and/or care for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and Alzheimer's disease-related dementias (AD/ADRD). The program aims to:
- Encourage the next generation of researchers to pursue research and academic careers in AD/ADRD.
- Stimulate established researchers (who have not previously received a major NIH award in AD/ADRD) to conduct pilot studies and develop innovative research programs leveraging their existing expertise.
Projects may cover a wide range of topics, including basic, translational, clinical, behavioral, social, and economic research related to AD/ADRD. The program is open to both clinical trial and non-clinical trial applications, but due to the limited budget and duration, only mechanistic or small pilot clinical trials are likely to be feasible.
