NASA's ROSES 2024 F.11 grant seeks proposals for lunar surface payloads and research, with amended deadlines and a shifted instrument delivery target to October 2027; consult instructions.
NASA Headquarters has archived this opportunity.
Funder: NASA Headquarters
Due Dates: April 18, 2025 (Step-2 proposal)
Funding Amounts: Up to $10M per award (PI cost, real year dollars) | Up to 5 years duration | ~3 awards expected
Summary: Supports development and flight of stand-alone, landing site-agnostic science payloads for delivery to the lunar surface via NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS).
Key Information: Proposals must be site-agnostic, ≤15 kg (including reserves), and comply with strict technical and cost caps; instrument delivery to NASA is targeted for October 2027.
This opportunity, part of NASA's annual Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) omnibus, solicits proposals for the development and flight of stand-alone, landing site-agnostic science payloads to be delivered to the lunar surface via the Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program. The focus is on science-driven investigations that do not require a specific lunar landing site and can achieve their objectives anywhere on the Moon. Selected payloads will be integrated with other NASA hardware for lunar delivery, with a targeted instrument delivery date to NASA in October 2027 and lunar landing expected in 2028.
The program encourages proposals that address high-priority science objectives identified in recent decadal surveys and community documents across planetary, biological, physical, and space sciences. Technology demonstration is permitted if it enhances the science return. Early career PIs and under-resourced institutions are encouraged to participate.
