Description
This opportunity funds the creation and operation of a Clinical Coordinating Center (CCC) for investigator-initiated, multi-site clinical trials, including efficacy, comparative effectiveness, pragmatic, and/or implementation research trials. The program is designed to advance research aligned with the mission of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and requires that proposed trials meet the NIH definition of a clinical trial. Innovative trial designs (e.g., adaptive, platform, Bayesian) are encouraged.
The CCC is responsible for scientific rationale, project management, subject recruitment and retention, performance milestones, trial conduct, and dissemination of results. The mechanism is a bi-phasic, milestone-driven cooperative agreement (UG3/UH3), with an initial planning phase (UG3) and a subsequent trial execution phase (UH3). Both a CCC and a collaborating Data Coordinating Center (DCC) application must be submitted simultaneously for the same project.
