Key Information: Projects must study families from NIH-designated populations experiencing health disparities in the United States and measure health outcomes or behaviors for at least two family members.
This NIH R01 opportunity supports observational and intervention research on family health, well-being, resilience, and the family-level risk and protective factors associated with health disparities. It seeks multidisciplinary work in the biomedical, clinical, population, behavioral, or social sciences that advances understanding of how families influence health and how family-level interventions can improve outcomes. Applications may include clinical trials but do not have to.
Participating institutes include the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, National Institute of Nursing Research, and National Cancer Institute. Research interests span family responses to stress, chronic disease, cancer, alcohol use, caregiving, and health-care decisions. Proposed work should fall within a participating institute’s mission.
