Description

This NIH opportunity supports investigators interested in applying advanced data science methods to address critical research questions related to substance use and/or substance use disorder (SUD). The program is designed both for newly independent data scientists and for established researchers incorporating novel data science techniques into addiction research for the first time. Projects should be small in scale, use existing datasets where possible, and serve as pilots or preliminary studies to inform larger future research. Applications must focus on substance use/SUD (not solely alcohol) and leverage methods such as machine learning, big data analytics, or other computational approaches. Cross-disciplinary collaborations and adherence to FAIR data principles are encouraged.
