NASA Headquarters has archived this opportunity.
Funder: NASA Headquarters
Due Dates: March 11, 2025 (Notices of Intent, optional) | May 1, 2025 (Full proposals)
Funding Amounts: ~10–12 awards; ~$450K/year for 3 years or ~$675K/year for 2 years; total program budget up to $6M in year 1.
Summary: Supports development of advanced component- and subsystem-level technologies for future spaceborne and airborne Earth science measurements.
Key Information: Proposals are evaluated via dual-anonymous peer review; strict anonymization and proposal structure requirements apply.
This opportunity, part of NASA's annual Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) omnibus, solicits proposals for the development of advanced component and subsystem technologies that will enable or significantly enhance remote sensing capabilities for Earth science. The program is managed by NASA's Earth Science Technology Office (ESTO) and aims to support new measurement techniques, reduce size/weight/power (SWaP), cost, and operational complexity, and foster innovation in instrument architectures and platforms.
Proposed technologies should address the needs of one or more Earth Science Focus Areas, such as the carbon cycle, climate variability, water and energy cycle, atmospheric composition, weather, or Earth surface and interior. The program encourages leveraging emerging technologies (e.g., AI, machine learning, additive manufacturing, photonic integrated circuits, quantum sensors) and supports activities from laboratory demonstrations to advanced hardware development.
