Description
This opportunity supports the rehabilitation of 12.3 miles of Georgia Southern short line freight rail track between mileposts 73.65 and 85.95, spanning the area between Metter and Register, Georgia. The project scope includes:
- Replacement of a metal culvert
- Repair of 32 steel H-piles on the bridge at MP 84.0
- Safety improvements at two community rail crossings to enable safe, 10 mph train speeds and daytime operations
The grant is part of the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure & Safety Improvements (CRISI) program and is Congressionally directed.
