This Department of Defense (DoD) program provides funding to accredited U.S. institutions of higher education for the acquisition of major research equipment or instrumentation. The goal is to enhance research capabilities and research-related education in science, mathematics, and engineering fields that are important to national defense. The program is administered by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), in partnership with the Army Research Office (ARO) and the Office of Naval Research (ONR).
DURIP awards are intended to support research that aligns with DoD priorities and to help educate the next generation of scientists and engineers through hands-on research experiences. Proposals must clearly demonstrate how the requested equipment will impact DoD-funded or DoD-relevant research and education.
