Description
This cooperative agreement opportunity from the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Portland District funds a non-federal public or nonprofit entity, youth service, or conservation corps organization to provide land stewardship and restoration services on USACE-managed lands in the Willamette Valley, Oregon. The program is specifically designed to engage adjudicated youth (those with active cases in the Lane County Department of Juvenile Justice), offering them hands-on experience in natural resource management, job readiness, and vocational training.
Projects will focus on:
- Restoration and management of native prairie landscapes and wildlife habitat
- Land stewardship, habitat restoration, and campground maintenance
- Vegetation management for dam safety at Fern Ridge, Lookout Point, Dexter, Fall Creek, Dorena, and Cottage Grove Lakes
Participants will gain experience in project planning, development, and implementation, while also earning restitution, community service hours, high school credit, or working toward a GED.
