Key Information: Clinical trials are not allowed; community collaboration is required for clinical research projects.
This opportunity supports transformative, non-incremental research aimed at reducing risk of or preventing the development of Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease-related dementias (AD/ADRD). Projects may utilize animal models or conduct clinical research (but not clinical trials), and must demonstrate high potential for near-term, high-impact outcomes that improve patient care or quality of life. Special emphasis is placed on risk reduction related to traumatic brain injury (TBI) and military health.
Distinctive features include the option for multiple principal investigators (PIs) through the Career Initiation or Transition (CIT) Partnership Option, and a strong requirement for community collaboration in clinical research. Leveraging existing cohorts and resources, especially those relevant to military health, is encouraged.
