The U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) Applied Materials and Systems Section invites applications for a postdoctoral research associateship focused on experimental physics related to plasmonic and thin-film devices, terahertz (THz) photonics, metamaterials, nanophotonics, and material physics. The research aims to develop advanced methods for sensing, controlling, generating, and modulating light.
Candidates will engage in basic and applied research involving optical measurement, optoelectronic device characterization, high-speed electrical measurement, and device fabrication. Familiarity with pulsed and continuous-wave (CW) laser systems, Raman spectroscopy, near-field scanning optical microscopy, and numerical or first-principles modeling of device physics is required.
