Description
This fellowship opportunity at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) focuses on advancing computer-aided software engineering to enhance software quality, flexibility, reliability, interoperability, and integration. The research emphasizes:
- Architectures supporting multiple configurations.
- Methods to certify dependability requirements across configurations.
- Techniques to reduce testing for reusable components.
- Formalizing and automating analysis and synthesis subtasks.
- Improving software generators for automatic program generation to reduce labor and errors.
- Computer-aided analysis of generation rules for systematic quality improvement.
- Testing and verifying flexible architectures.
- Models for software generation, document transformation, lightweight inference, and rule analysis/transformation.
- Developing “software wrapper and glue” architectures for integrating legacy systems and prototyping distributed systems.
- Data modeling and adaptation to enable consistent data meaning across systems with different representations.
- Computer-aided software maintenance including design recovery, compatibility checking, slicing, view fusion, and change merging.
This research aims to reduce costs while improving software development processes and outcomes.
