This postdoctoral research opportunity at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) focuses on designing and synthesizing nanostructured metal oxides and carbon materials using soft-chemistry methods. The research involves creating aerogels and related pore-solid nanoarchitectures characterized by high surface area, continuous porosity, and nanoscale solid networks. These open pore structures facilitate ion and molecule transport for interaction with the solid matrix.
The program also develops protocols to modify these nanoarchitectures with biomolecules, polymers, metal colloids, ceramics, and semiconductors to enhance functionality and stability.
