Description
This fellowship opportunity supports postdoctoral research at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, DC, focused on the development and evaluation of advanced decision support systems. Research areas include intelligent agents (with emphases on goal reasoning, planning, and acting), machine learning techniques such as generative AI and deep learning, case-based reasoning, and explainable AI (XAI) algorithms. Projects may also involve knowledge-based systems with integrated ontologies to assist user inferencing.
Past and current projects cover a broad range of topics including transfer learning, active learning, statistical relational learning, anomaly detection (e.g., maritime threat analysis), intelligent agents in gaming and training environments, mixed-initiative planning to reduce planning time, intelligent lessons learned systems, and knowledge extraction from text documents.
