This postdoctoral research opportunity at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) focuses on the physics and applications of materials exhibiting high binding energy excitons (HBEE). HBEE excitons are promising for enabling room temperature sensing and future computing technologies. The project involves exploring these excitons in various materials such as organic molecules, polymers, 2D materials, and perovskites.
Research methods include advanced ultrafast optical spectroscopy techniques like transient absorption spectroscopy (TAS), time-resolved fluorescence, two-dimensional spectroscopy, and pump-probe spectral interferometry. The project also encompasses opto-electronic device design, fabrication, and characterization using NIST's nanofabrication facilities, including low temperature current-voltage, impedance and capacitance-voltage measurements, electroluminescence, and photocurrent studies.
The fellowship provides a unique opportunity to work at the Physical Measurement Laboratory, Nanoscale Device Characterization Division in Gaithersburg, MD, under the mentorship of NIST scientists.
