Description
The American Cancer Society’s Cancer Health Research Centers (CHERCs) program supports the creation of research centers focused on actionable, solution-based projects to address cancer health disparities in local or regional communities. CHERCs are designed to advance health equity by engaging communities, targeting demonstrated inequities across the cancer continuum (prevention, screening, treatment, access, survivorship), and implementing collaborative, multidisciplinary approaches. Each center must include a Supportive Core to coordinate activities, foster collaboration, support mentoring/training, engage the community, and ensure dissemination of findings. Priority is given to centers addressing rural health, early onset cancers, racial/ethnic disparities, immigrant/minority populations, environmental justice, and disabilities, though other topics may be considered with justification.
