--- ## Description Project SEED Scholarships are offered by the American Chemical Society (ACS) to support former Project SEED participants as they transition from high school to college. The program provides both one-year, non-renewable scholarships (up to $5,000 for the freshman year) and multi-year renewable scholarships, including the Joseph D. Loconti, CIBA Specialty Chemicals, and Alfred R. Bader awards. Selection is based on academic achievement, success in the Project SEED program, demonstrated financial need, and an intended field of study related to chemistry or chemical sciences. The scholarships are designed to encourage and assist students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue higher education and careers in chemistry and related fields. --- ## Due Dates - December 30, 2025: Project SEED scholarship application and all supporting materials due (Foundant application, unofficial transcript, two letters of recommendation) - January 31, 2025: Application deadline (as listed on ACS Funding & Awards page) --- ## Funding Amount - One-year, non-renewable scholarships: Up to $5,000 for the freshman year; approximately 30 awarded annually. - Joseph D. Loconti Renewable Scholarship: $5,000 per year for four years (one awarded annually). - CIBA Specialty Chemicals Renewable Scholarship: $5,000 per year for up to three additional years (2–5 awarded to former one-year recipients). - Alfred R. Bader Scholarship: $5,000 for up to 20 students, with second-year support for all Bader Scholars. --- ## Eligibility - Must be a Project SEED alum (participated at least one summer in Project SEED). - Must be a current high school senior or college freshman. - Must plan to enroll full-time at an accredited college or university for the upcoming academic year. - Must intend to major in a chemical-related science (e.g., Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Forensic Chemistry, Materials Science, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, etc.). - Selection emphasizes academic achievement, commitment to chemistry, and financial need. --- ## Application Process 1. Complete the scholarship application via the Foundant website. 2. Submit an unofficial high school transcript. 3. Provide two letters of recommendation: - One from a Project SEED mentor, coordinator, or lab colleague describing research progress and aptitude for chemistry. - One from a high school STEM teacher (or college professor for freshmen) highlighting enthusiasm and commitment to a chemistry-related career. 4. All materials, including letters of recommendation, must be submitted by December 30, 2025. 5. No additional paperwork is needed for the Joseph D.
